How Big or Small Can My Residential Elevator Be?

A residential elevator should be 12sq/ft-15sq/feet.  However, if you have the overhead we can maximize the height in your design.  We work with our clients to offer this as a complimentary service.  There are no additional charges for adding height to your residential elevator.  We understand and want you to feel as comfortable as possible.  All of our elevators are designed and installed by our team of experts that understand the up-to-date residential elevator codes.  Even if the codes have not been implemented in your area, those are our standards, which goes above and beyond what we actually have to do.  We feel the latest codes are there for your safety, and we care deeply for our client's safety which is why this is extremely important to us.

The space required for your elevator will depend on a few factors.  It will depend on what type of elevator you are looking for as well as the wall that you are thinking about using.  The wall will need to be large enough to accommodate the size of the rails and pully systems.  However, a pneumatic elevator is more of a stand-alone operation and can go up on the outside of a wall as well.  You will need clearance for all the components of the elevator and most likely a machine room for it also.  This machine room will be used to house the operating component of the elevator.

Let's take a look at the amount of space needed.

Most of the time the inside of a residential elevator will be 36" wide by 48" deep.  This is a fairly average number and a good one for an example.  Should this be the size that you are looking for, then you will need a shaft that is 48" wide by 60" deep, we call this the hoistway.  This is just to give you an idea of the amount of space a residential elevator is going to need.

It is an exciting and scary time when you decide that you or a loved one needs a residential elevator installed in your home.  This is a time that you need to understand your options and know what the actual differences in the elevators actually are.  There are pneumatic, hydraulic, winding drum and we can't forget about traction elevators as well.

Looking for the perfect residential elevator for your home.

Finding the elevator that will not only suit your needs but also finding one that will actually fit into your home and your budget is important.  We offer some of the least expensive hydraulic elevators on the market.  This is not because we have cut corners or offer an inferior product.  It is because we build our residential elevators from the ground up.  We believe that as a professional residential elevator company, we have to meet a set of standards.  Because of this, we are very involved in how our residential elevators are built and maintained.  Your safety is important to us.  We not only want to build you an aesthetically appealing residential elevator but a safe one as well.

Don't go with just any residential elevator company, go with one that you can trust and count on.  We work with our clients and are here for them at every step.  We will answer all of your questions from the beginning to years down the road.

Most of our elevators can be customized to have the look of the cabinetry you have in your home.  Our carpenters are very talented and can do this for you or you can use your own.  We understand that some clients have a personal carpenter that they would like to use to help with the look of the elevator and we are perfectly fine with that.  It is important to us that you have an elevator that you will be proud of.
